The nights are starting to draw in, conkers are everywhere and we will soon be turning the clocks back. Autumn is upon us but rather than hunker down at home why not enjoy one of the following autumn activities that the Chilterns have on offer?

If you want to head to the great outdoors then National Trust properties Cliveden, Hughenden Manor and Waddesdon Manor all have some great activities lined up.

Family of three playing in autumn sunshine throwing leavesIf you fancy an autumn stroll why not head to the Cliveden Woodland trails, which have a variety of marked routes to explore – many overlooking or running alongside the Thames. For the energetic there is the Trim Trail – an outdoor gym with ten pieces of equipment to help you tone whilst you walk. During half term young visitors to Cliveden are invited to be on the lookout for Woodland Sprites and can dabble in some wild art available deep in the woodlands. For more information click here

Hughenden Manor is keen for their visitors to explore autumn in all its glory on the estate and are offering Forester’s Walks and an Autumn Trail.

Waddesdon Manor also has a wide range of activities on offer including autumn walks, tours of the Rothschild wine cellars and meet the Aviary Keeper alongside various Hallowe’en events.

If you are feeling the need to up the pace to blow away the autumn cobwebs why not try one of the increasing popular autumn ivy leaves surrounding a window and doorParkrun’s that are being held across the Chilterns. Parkrun UK organises weekly, timed 5km runs around the world. They are open to everyone, free and safe and easy to take part. If you fancy upping your fitness or running with others there are events held every Saturday at 9am at Black Park County Park, Wycombe Rye and also in the larger towns of Aylesbury, Reading and Oxford.
