3000 Father Christmas’ running through Marlow – what a sight!

Sharon’s Santa Run
The annual Marlow Santa 5k Fun Run attracts over 3000 people dressed as Father Christmas and Sharon from Chiltern Relocation limbered up in her Santa suit to join the masses running up the historic High Street to the cheers from locals and supporters.
The Marlow fun run has been ‘running’ for 15 years and has raised an amazing £345,000 for their lead charities – Buckinghamshire MIND & Wycombe Homeless Connection. The run is akin to a military operation with over 200 helpers from the Rotary Clubs of Marlow and surrounding areas. The run appeals to entrants of all ages and abilities from children to senior citizens, serious and not so serious, runners and walkers, disabled and able bodied – and dogs too!
Sharon commented that one of the highlights had to be seeing 3000 Santa’s warming up in Higginson Park to ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day’! Seeing thousands of Santa’s performing star jumps was also a sight to behold!
The runners were escorted from Higginson Park to the High Street to wait for the starting claxon and the atmosphere was fabulous amongst all the charitable people there to have fun and raise money. However, a few interlopers were spotted!! Namely a couple of turkeys and Christmas puddings were running among the Santa suits!
Sharon commented, ‘it was a great start to the festive period and I would recommend you put it in your diary for next year to watch or even set yourself a goal with couch to 5K and get running! Ho Ho Ho!’
