Activities to please all ages Christmas Fun and Sparkle in the Chilterns
With so many activities on offer across the county here are Chiltern Relocation’s top picks for some seasonal sparkle.
This year Waddesdon Manor, the stunning National Trust 1870s Renaissance-style chateau built by Baron de Rothschild, is pulling out all the stops. Their Christmas Fair runs until 16th December with 86 hand selected exhibitors housed in charming wooden chalets offering unique gifts, crafts and festive foods.
This year Waddeson will be showcasing their Christmas Carnival. From dusk, the grounds will come to life with a new light show created by the Guildhall School, projected onto the Stables and inspired by the objects, architecture and gardens of Waddesdon. Beyond the house the whole family will enjoy the Aviary Garden light trail which combines colour, sound and movement and the front of the Manor will be bathed in light. Inside the decorated rooms you’ll find dazzling decorations inspired by festivals conjured up by Waddesdon’s treasured artworks and trees sparkling with light.
The Beaconsfield Festival of Lights will be held on Wednesday 12th December from 6pm until 9pm. The main roads are closed in the new town as market stalls, fairground rides, hand-bell ringing and tombola’s and a huge variety of stalls take over. A stage in front of Costa runs a program of events including local school choirs and bands. There is also a procession of lanterns made by local primary school children and of course Santa on his sleigh.
Free event in Festive Family Fun in Aylesbury Market Square Sunday 9th December 11am – 4pm. Take the whole family along to see Cinderella’s Glass Carriage, 5 different fun fair rides, listen to a traditional barrel organ while eating hot roasted chestnuts all for FREE! Strictly legend Brendan Cole is the star of the Wycombe Swan’s pantomime Snow White and the Seven Dwarfes and Britain’s Got Talent’s favourite magician Mandy Muden will be casting spells alongside him!
Peter Pan is this year’s pantomime at the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury starring Holby City and Coronation Street star John Michie. And Milton Keynes will be welcoming Shane Richie to the stage in Robin Hood.
