Why Chiltern Relocation loves Great Missenden: Residents enjoy the proximity to London yet also love the buzzy village/town feel in the heart of the countryside.

Great Missenden is an attractive small town and lies within the centre of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), 35 miles northwest of London. The town has a long curving High Street of half-timbered shops and a number of traditional pubs which were former coaching inns.  Great Missenden has a centrally located railway station with commuting times of 46 minutes to Marylebone. It is also just ten minutes from the larger towns of Amersham and Chesham which also have excellent rail connections into London.

Great Missenden was home to the late Roald Dahl, and the village is now best known for the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre which attracts visitors from all over the world.  Many enjoy the Roald Dahl Village Trail where you can identify the timber framed building which was his inspiration for Sophie’s ‘norphanage’ in The BFG, the library visited by Matilda or the old fashioned petrol pumps featured in the garage in Danny Champion of the World.

The town has an excellent primary school and great sporting facilities with tennis courts in the town.  Given its location in the heart of the Chilterns this town also has a thriving cycle club with great network of cycle routes.
