Who uses a Relocation Agent?
So, in answer to the question who uses a Relocation Agent? It really is a wide spectrum of families, couples, individuals and corporate clients who know that they are in safe hands with local experts.
Chiltern Relocation has been in business for 14 years and over this time we have witnessed a real shift in our client base and have tailored our business accordingly. Meeting and getting to know all our clients is the single most rewarding part of our job – well that and securing their dream home!
When we started out our clients were a mixture of families making the move out of London and employee relocations who are on short term contracts requiring suitable rental properties. Families wanting to make the move out of London (from Wapping, Fulham, Islington, Notting Hill etc ) for greater schooling options, a bigger house and garden, green space and easy commuting are still at the core of our business.
However, the families we now help to relocate are often those with two working parents who are struggling to find the time to conduct much research into their move and who rely completely on our service to guide them with appropriate areas, housing, schooling and commuting options – we carry out as much of the ‘leg work’ in advance on their behalf as possible.
And whilst we still help many London families to relocate to Bucks, Herts, Berks or Oxfordshire, our customer base is evolving to include a greater number of overseas clients moving back to the UK – for reasons such as the price of living being too high in Switzerland or finishing a short-term contract in Dubai.
In these cases, we need to conduct much of our research and getting to know our customers over SKYPE calls and by visiting properties on their behalf and sending them video clips. By reporting back on different options and getting their feedback we are able to really build a rapport with our clients with the use of technology to save them precious time an energy meaning that our Viewing Days can be very focused.
We are also seeing more families make the move with older children or a wider age range of children rather than what was the ‘typical’ relocating family with a toddler and one on the way. Now parents are realising the challenge of schooling GCSE and A-Level aged children in London and wish to make the move a bit later in their school career.
In addition to handling all the purchase and rental negotiations, our role is to follow the house purchase or rental through to completion and hand over day (including utilities switch over) thereby making not only their move but starting the new chapter of their life much simpler for them.
