With the economy and confidence starting to pick up, we are seeing a big up-tick in corporate relocations as companies wish to push ahead with their employee relocation plans that have been on hold for so long.

Pre-pandemic we would typically be relocating individuals on one-year assignments who worked in the tech sector and who wished to relocate near to the M4 technology corridor. Wokingham, Reading, the outskirts of Slough and Virginia Water were all popular locations. However, the corporate relocation demographic is now changing as we are moving more executives with families – often with young children – who require school and nursery places. Finding a suitable family rental and tying in preferred schools, school catchment areas and finding school place availably – often across multiple year groups – means that there is a lot to juggle in the current rise of corporate relocations.

Recently, our local consultants have been helping families in Cambridge, Cheltenham, Wales, Hareford, Andover and Northwood. Family rental properties are at a premium at the moment given the lack of rental supply (see our blog here as to why). This means that our local eyes and ears on the ground are a vital part of a successful relocation – finding out when properties are due to the market before anyone else and often securing off-market viewings. Our local consultants also have the inside track on which schools to aim for – whether it is catchment for excellent state grammars or proximity to bus routes for highly regarded independent schools.
How do overseas relocations work in current times?
With corporate client’s time at a premium and travel restrictions often in place many viewings are taking place virtually. Our consultants either view the properties via live Facetime calls with the client or they view a selection of properties and send video clips and photos. With the rental market moving so fast it is imperative that our clients understand the need to move swiftly when the property ticks the boxes.
