The arrival of the Elizabeth line has truly revolutionised commuting from Berkshire towns and has provided fantastic accessibility to west London. Not only are the tube carriages spacious and modern, the service is quick and reliable. Linking London’s Paddington, Tottenham Court Road and Liverpool Street out to the end of the line at Reading, the Elizabeth line passes through many fabulous commuter towns.
With journey times of just 17 minutes from Slough to Paddington it is no surprise that we are seeing increased interest in these popular commuter towns.

Slough
Perhaps not an obvious choice, but Slough offers the buzz and diversity of its town centre but also the proximity of beautiful riverside towns and villages. Just a stone’s throw from Slough, you will find the fabulous towns and villages of Farnham Common and Farnham Royal. The backdrop to these towns is Burnham Beeches – 370 hectares of ancient woodland and wildlife habitats. This area is popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Burnham
A compact town with everything close by, Burnham is becoming increasingly popular with commuters. The town is home to Burnham Grammar School which achieves some of the best results in the country. Just up the road is a choice of golf courses including the popular The Lambourne Club.
Taplow
Sitting alongside The Thames, Taplow is a cute village complete with village green and a range of housing options. Popular with boating enthusiasts, Taplow is also just moments from National Trust property Cliveden House. As the 4th most visited NT site, Cliveden has plenty to offer with stunning walks, restaurants and their iconic maze.
Maidenhead
The sizeable town of Maidenhead boasts plenty of social amenities including great shopping at the Nicholson’s shopping centre, its twice weekly market and excellent sports facilities at the Magnet Leisure Centre. Twyford
A scenic village setting makes Twyford a popular choice for many with plenty of restaurants, cafés and independent shops to enjoy too. Twyford is also a short drive to scenic Wargrave and the famous Henley-on-Thames with its historic High Street.
Reading
At the end of the line is the cosmopolitan town of Reading. The largest town in England, Reading has a wealth of social and leisure amenities including the Oracle shopping centre in the heart of the town.
