CHILTERN RELOCATION CELEBRATES WITH THEO PAPHITIS at SBS EVENT
Theo’ Paphitis Event
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the brain child of Theo Paphitis – Small Business Sunday otherwise known as #SBS – an award system created by the entrepreneur to champion small businesses and increase their visibility.
How do you become a winner?
Every week, Theo Paphitis welcomes six small businesses to the #SBS family who tweet, comment or post an image to @TheoPaphitis describing their business. Tweets and Instagram posts need to be made during a set time slot on a Sunday (hence the name!) and Theo choses his six favourites. Chiltern Relocation was thrilled to be recognised by Theo Paphitis in 2018 when Chiltern Relocation tweeted Theo.
Theo’s credentials
Theo is best known for appearing on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den. He is Chairman of Ryman, Boux Avenue, Robert Dyas and the latest acquisition London Graphic Centre.
Since 2010, the #SBS creator Theo Paphitis, has hosted an annual event for #SBS winners which sees hundreds of businesses come together for an unparalleled day of networking and must-have advice. At the event Theo shared that of the 450,000 entries that he receives only 0.8% are winners and interestingly 78% of those businesses are run by women. Chiltern Relocation is honoured to be part of this select group of like-minded entrepreneurs and have the opportunity to benefit from the incredible business advice on offer at the event.
Speakers of the day included
This year’s speakers included F1 star and business entrepreneur Mark Blundell and Sunday Times bestseller Owen O’Kane. Theo invested in Blundell’s business ten year ago taking the boutique sports agency to a multi-million-pound business. Blundell talked about building his brand and how he put networking, people and partnerships at the heart of his business. Author, psychotherapist and Ted Talk speaker Owen O’Kane went on to talk about the importance of good mental health and how a good mindset can help a business grow.
Business is looking up
Chiltern Relocation was thrilled to attend the influential talks and have the opportunity to network with likeminded individuals. A poll was sent out to the winners prior to the event and interestingly 66% of the business in attendance predicted growth over the next year.
This positive statistic was fantastic to hear as so many businesses are currently mitigating daily challenges against the backdrop of the cost of living crisis amongst other factors currently impacting businesses across the UK.
Take aways
Chiltern Relocation came away with a real sense of positivity not only as a result of the predicted business growth but also learning the huge impact that small businesses have on the UK economy with small businesses contributing to 61% of UK employment and 7% of turnover in 2022.
