Living in the Chilterns means more than stunning homes and rolling countryside, it also means incredible food on your doorstep. With the latest Michelin awards and SquareMeal Top 100 listings, the region’s restaurants are firmly in the top league, offering everything from classic British pubs to Michelin-starred experiences.

Buckinghamshire

Hand and Flowers in Marlow – Tom Kerridge’s pub is famous for its triple cooked chips. 

Two Michelin Stars.

The Coach in Marlow – from the same team as the Hand and Flowers this relaxed pub offers excellent food in a relaxed setting.

One Michelin Star.

Artichoke in Amersham – located in the heart of Amersham’s Old Town the menus evolve around locally sourced produce in a beautifully beamed restaurant.

One Michelin Star.

Berkshire

The Fat Duck in Bray – Heston Blumenthal’s iconic flavours such as snail porridge and crab ice cream are still wowing diners.

Three Michelin Stars.

The Waterside Inn in Bray – Alain Roux is head chef having taken over from father Michel and uncle Albert Roux. French inspired menus abound at this luxurious riverside restaurant location overlooking The Thames and the swans.

The Hinds Head in Bray – is Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin-starred traditional style British pub that offers a warm welcome and a friendly pint with exceptional food.

Oxfordshire 

Nut Tree Inn in MurcottMike and Imogen North, offer seasonal flavours from homegrown produce. Crafting Michelin star food with passion and precision.

This is just the list of Michelin starred restaurants. The Michelin guide points to many other restaurants in the three counties who have been awarded the BIB Gourmand for ‘good quality, good value cooking’.

The Oarsman in Marlow Behind the British boozer charm lies a brilliant gastropub restaurant at The Oarsman. Sink into a studded leather booth by the fire and tuck into some proper British cooking. 

The Loch and the Tyne in Old Windsor   A joint project between Chef Adam Handling and co-chef proprietors Steven Kerr and Johnny McNeil, this classic British pub serves a seasonal hybrid of Newcastle and Scotland’s finest dishes, a nod to the owners’ childhood homes.

The Three Oaks in Gerrards Cross This appealing, well-run pub comprises several different areas; dine in the brighter room overlooking the terrace and pretty garden, or head straight outside on warmer days. The cooking is satisfying and seasonal, with the chefs skilfully weaving in subtle influences from across East and Southeast Asia.

Goat on the roof A former bank is now this bright and airy restaurant where plenty of natural light floods in through the large windows. The appealingly varied cooking offers sharing plates that draw inspiration from multiple sources but are rooted in the British larder.

The Greyhound in Beaconsfield Husband and wife team Daniel and Margriet honed their skills at Petrus and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, so it’s no surprise this gastropub nails all the small details, from pitch-perfect service to delicious food.

The Coach in Marlow – The Coach, led by Head Chef Brad Cacela, offers a ‘small plate’ menu showcasing traditional British classics with a contemporary twist that Tom Kerridge is renowned for.

Wild at Bull Burford in Burford This immersive Cotswolds chef’s table is a proper experience, as 12 guests gather around a roaring fire for a few hours of coal-fired theatre. Ben Chamberlain orchestrates eleven dramatic courses, from smoked venison tartare to a coal-seared baked Alaska.
