Moving from Westminster to Gerrards Cross

 The Initial Enquiry

We received a call from a retired lady who was living near St James Park. She explained that she has really enjoyed living in London but that recently the appeal of city life had changed. Whilst she appreciated all that London has to offer culturally, she wanted to enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle. She was keen to find a low maintenance rental property within easy access to local amenities and striking distance of Marylebone.

How we helped

Our client had narrowed down her search to the towns and villages near Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross where she had friends. She was also keen to be still be within easy reach of London in order to enjoy trips to theatres and art galleries for her ‘cultural fix’. As a very keen walker who regularly clocks up dozens of miles a week, the move also had to take into account her love of hiking with access to fabulous walking trails. However, she didn’t know the area very well so our first job was to introduce her to the Chilterns on our Viewing Day.

We viewed a number of properties in Penn, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and surrounds to get a feel for her likes and dislikes. We pinpointed the local amenities and transport options in addition to the countryside walks.

Problems we faced

A number of the premium rental options are on the main road in towns which meant easy access to all the High Street facilities and the train station but unfortunately the road noise was audible.

The rental market continues to move at a pace and there is not a huge amount of available stock. Therefore, our main problem was finding enough options for her to view that fitted the requirements.  Ground floor flats were also ruled out for her, having lived in London for so long, as security was at the forefront of her mind.

Conclusion

Given our excellent links with local agents we were fortunate to be offered an early viewing on a raised ground floor apartment in Gerrards Cross in an elegant gated block surrounded by landscaped gardens. There was a lot of interest in the property as it was in a prime location and beautiful apportioned. Given our client was represented by a relocation agent our offer was very favourably considered and we were delighted that it was accepted. Our client has now moved in and has met her kind neighbours, is exploring the area and is enjoying the buzz of Gerrards Cross twinned with the calm of her new apartment and surroundings.
