On Yer Bike - Cycling in the Chilterns
Bike Week 100 – Cycling the Chilterns for commuting and pleasure
This week marks the 100th anniversary of Bike Week celebrated 5-11th June. The Chilterns is famous for its fantastic cycle routes and cycle culture and many of our clients chose to live here to fuel their cycling passion. This year Bike Week 100 is encouraging more people to cycle to work to support fitter and greener workplaces and lifestyles. Cycling boosts wellbeing and therefore productivity and reduces traffic congestion and lowers carbon emissions.
Fed up of having to load up their bike every weekend and travel miles out of the city to cycle, enthusiasts are now changing their address to match their desired lifestyle. The Chilterns is one of the best places for cycling in the south east due to the varying terrain, steep inclines, quiet roads and the huge network of cycle routes on the doorstep.
The Chilterns also offers excellent commuting options with your bike. Many clients are now looking to live a little further from town centres and are choosing to cycle to the station on the days that they work in London. Marylebone station has 462 spaces on newly refurbished bike racks for those who don’t wish to cycle the London streets however many choose to cycle both ends of the commute.
Some of the favourite villages for cycling enthusiasts who wish to live within cycling distance of the rail network include:
