Get a taste for the area by visiting Christmas Markets in Bucks and Berks
If you are considering moving to the Chilterns and want to get a real flavour of different towns and villages and what they have to offer then why not visit during Christmas event season? With neighbourhoods buzzing with Christmas spirit and locals volunteering at various events it is a great opportunity to see towns at their finest and get out and meet people over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie. With only five weeks until Christmas, towns and villages are starting to sparkle and shine and for those who enjoy a different experience to the usual High Street stores then look no further than one of our many local Christmas events in Bucks and Berks.
Marlow: 24th November & 9th-21st December
Dragons’ Den star Peter Jones, who lives in Marlow, is set to turn the lights on, as a big red festive bus will park up outside The Chequers. The event kicks off at 6pm and with the road closed for the festivities so keep an eye out for festive stilt walkers and ‘cheeky elves’!
Marlow is excited to unveil a new event for this year called “Christmas in the Park” which will run from 9th til 21st December. Higginson Park will be transformed into a Christmas destination with an illuminated light trail featuring festive-themed installations including the Mistletoe Christmas Market, interactive Elves Workshop and Winter Village featuring a selection of hand-picked gourmet food trucks, bars and live performances of your favourite carols and festive songs. The fun runs between 4-10.30pm.
Windsor: Various dates from 19th November
Windsor has Christmas wrapped up this year with something for everyone – from artisan markets to famers markets to night markets. Windsor Great Park will be illuminated transforming it into a magical winter wonderland. Alexandra Gardens, in the heart of Windsor, will be staging fabulous indoor and outdoor ice rinks and fairground rides. One of the larger markets is held at the Royal Windsor Racecourse on 19th and 20th November with around 100 stalls. Take a look here at everything that Windsor has to offer from now until Christmas.
Amersham: 2nd and 3rd December
Amersham is hosting two events. The first in Old Amersham on 2nd December called A Magical Christmas Evening from 6.30-9pm with plenty of festive cheer and usually the odd reindeer!
Amersham on the Hill will be welcoming everyone for festivities on 3rd December for their Christmas Festival with live music and street markets. Taskmaster’s Alex Horne will turn on the lights at 4.30pm. There’ll be street and indoor markets as well as live music from 12pm.
Beaconsfield: 14th December
Beaconsfield New Town comes alive with local school children parading through the streets with decorated lanterns to celebrate the Festival of Lights. Streets in Beaconsfield new town are closed to traffic and lined with stalls and fairground rides and many community groups. A stage on the green welcomes local choirs and dance groups for performances throughout the evening.
Henley: 25-27th November
This year Henley will be holding their Christmas Festival over three days and will have plenty of sparkle to get you into the festive spirit.
The weekend will start on Friday, 25th with late night shopping from 5pm and town centre will be closed to traffic and filled with stalls and rides to entertain the whole family. At 7pm Christmas Tree Lights will be turned on by The Mayor followed by carol singing and a parade.
On Saturday, there will be a Christmas Farmers Market and the launch of a nutcracker trail and on Sunday, there will be a Craft Market in Market Place.
Chesham: November 25th
Back for 2022, Christmas in Chesham will see a market, food stalls and fairground rides line the High Street with live music and performances. Crafts will be on offer while Father Christmas and his sleigh will be making a special appearance. The starring cast of the town’s Sleeping Beauty pantomime, showing at the Elgiva theatre, will also be about.
