Following a very quiet patch linked to the pandemic, travel restrictions, job uncertainty and reduced corporate budgets we are now starting to see a return of corporate rental enquiries.
In addition to specialising in Bucks, Berks, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire, Chiltern Relocation have a wide network of relocation specialists based in all over the UK who are able to assist with research and viewings in their particular ‘patch’. In the past few months, we have relocated corporate clients to Andover, Cheltenham, Cambridge, Hereford, Glasgow, Northwood and Anglesea. All enquiries are handled from our Beaconsfield office and we appoint a local specialist to assist with the physical viewings.
As mentioned in our recent blog (Why are there so few rental properties on the market) rental options are very limited at the moment due to a number of factors including:
- Stamp duty holiday,
- Lack of first-time buyers and
- Shortage of properties in the sales market meaning that current tenants are staying put for longer.
Lockdown has also had another, slightly leftfield impact on our renters. Many have taken on a pet during the pandemic and now need to move with their pet. Typically, landlords are not keen on pets which considerably reduces possible options but here at Chiltern Relocation we try to accommodate the new member of the family where possible by including a pet clause in the rental agreement.
Our corporate relocations have so far included securing four properties before they came onto the market, one viewing via Facetime to an ice rink in Canada (see blog here) and one where we were able to find a landlord willing to take on a Canadian cat in a City centre apartment.
Many of the corporate relocations are also coming from abroad meaning that we are viewing on their behalf – either via a live Facetime call or by taking a series of video clips and sending them to the clients. Given the pace of the rental market we are fortunate that our clients are in a position whereby they can respond quickly based on our local advice, photos and sometimes ‘live’ viewings, to secure the property.
