moose milk and move ins.
What we love about this time of year is connecting back with, clients, customers, friends and colleagues we have worked with over the last year.
Two heart-warming events last week lit the Christmas spark, plus a festive move-in in Eton.
Canadian moose milk celebration
Sharon was invited to an annual gathering for a Canadian client company to help judge a little-known drink called moose milk. It was a very festive event with lots of Christmas jumpers and some serious completion between the competing teams.
It was a fantastic opportunity to experience this tradition first hand and sample some Canadian delicacies. It was also a brilliant opportunity to meet some of the clients we have relocated this year for the company.
Meeting clients again a few months into their move is always very rewarding, as we love to hear how they have settled in. Judging was tough, and luckily the size of the taster cups were small, but it is fair to say that distinguishing between moose milks became more challenging as the tasting went on!
For your information, the ingredients to moose milk are: coffee, rum, whiskey, Kahlua, milk, ice cream, nutmeg and maple syrup, amongst other tipples.
The week ended with Marlow’s annual Santa Fun Run – a must in the Christmas calendar. The annual Marlow Santa 5k Fun Run attracts over 3000 people dressed as Father Christmas and Sharon from Chiltern Relocation limbered up in her Santa suit to join the masses running up the historic High Street to the cheers from locals and supporters.
The Marlow Christmas town lights were recently switched on by local resident and Peter Jones of Dragons Den fame. Also, DJ Chris Evans was also there in his Santa suit ready for action.
The Marlow Santa fun run has been ‘running’ for 16 years and this year was raising money for Thames Valley Air Ambulance which is a charity fully funded by generosity of the communities it serves across Bucks, Berks and Oxfordshire.
Operating 19 hours a day, 365 days of the year the iconic red helicopter is staffed with expert pilot, doctor and paramedic and can reach anyone within 15 minutes of take-off. Young Minds was the other charity whose purpose is to stop young people’s mental health reaching crisis point.
The run is akin to a military operation with over 200 helpers from the Rotary Clubs of Marlow and surrounding areas and it appeals to entrants of all ages and abilities from children to senior citizens, serious and not so serious, runners and walkers, disabled and able bodied – and dogs too! Amongst the sea of Santas a few interlopers were spotted – namely a few elves and a helicopter outfit.
Finally, the best part of our job is the client’s key handover and this week, we were delighted to help our client relocate to a beautiful cottage in the historic town of Eton Berkshire. Chiltern Relocation is certainly feeling in the festive mood now and is looking forward to the next few weeks – maybe we will even try our hand at our own moose milk concoction.
Sharon commented that one of the highlights had to be seeing 3000 Santa’s warming up in Higginson Park to ‘Santa Baby’ and ‘I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day’! Seeing thousands of Santa’s performing star jumps was also a sight to behold!
