Day in the Life of a Relocation Agent October 2024

8am: We are excited to meet clients from Scotland who are on a whirlwind visit in search of a rental due to a work relocation. The rental property market moves quickly so we always put the schedule together as close to the Viewing Day as possible to try and ensure that properties are still available. The couple are keen to view Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Farnham Common, Penn and Great Missenden. However, we receive a message first thing on Monday to let us know that the couple drove around some of the areas on Sunday and now wish to change their preferred locations.

9am: With the early notice we have time to quickly cancel a number of viewings and set up some new ones. Two members of the Chiltern Relocation team make calls and a new schedule is quickly put in place.

10am: We meet the couple and have a quick cup of coffee together to chat though their thoughts on areas following their drive around the day before and run through the schedule. A vital part of the Viewing Day is not just seeing the properties but also getting a real feel for different areas. Understanding school catchment areas, the location of social amenities and dog walking options in addition to knowing where the nearest supermarket and cafes are found is a key part of building the picture for the move. We visit a number of houses in Gerrards Cross and one in particular is an excellent option being within the catchment of the excellent primary school.

After the viewings we drive the couple through Beaconsfield to offer them a second opinion on the town. We show them the historic Old Town and market area, locations of sporting facilities such as the cricket and rugby club and onto the New Town and the tennis club and the charming roads that surround this area. We also view a rental option from the outside within a short walk to the train station in one direction and to the woods in the other direction.

The clients are very grateful for the ‘second look’ and realise that they had only seen a small screenshot of the town when they drove through and had not appreciated all that it had to offer. This is why Chiltern Relocation loves our Viewing Days as we get to showcase all the best bits of each area, offer in depth knowledge about the area including the best roads and really give a ‘360’ view of locations.

2pm: After dropping the clients back to their car, we head back to Gerrards Cross to look at an off-market property. This one is an impressive 7,000sq ft new build with stunning interiors. Our contacts with local developers and estate agents mean that we are often invited for a ‘first look’ on behalf of our clients. We look forward to getting back to the office and sending the photos and video footage to our clients and arranging a viewing with them.

3pm: We speak to local agents to ask if they have seen anything new for our client who is downsizing and keen to find a property with open plan living.

We are helping to relocate some members of the armed forces so we read over lettings contracts and check that their requirements meet with the ones stipulated by their HR department.

5pm: We head to the Old Town in Beaconsfield for a Networking event at the sophisticated Riwaz restaurant founded by the award-winning chef, Atul Kocchar. Chiltern Relocation were delighted to meet with business owners, entrepreneurs and also Beaconsfield’s mayor. Supporting such events is a really valuable way for us to meet like-minded business people and learn about their industries. Of course, it is even more satisfying when a potential link between businesses is discovered and connections are forged.
