Chiltern Relocation’s 18th Birthday Party

Wow what a night!

Champagne was flowing at Prime Steak and Grill Cocktail Bar as 60 guests joined the celebrations for Chiltern Relocation’s 18th birthday on 26th January 2023.

Chiltern Relocation wanted to mark the occasion with clients who we have moved over the years in addition to local professionals including estate agents, solicitors and developers who have all supported and contributed towards Chiltern Relocation’s success.

Eighteen years ago, Sharon was working for a local estate agent but knew she had a lot to offer potential buyers in terms of local information and advice and she also knew that the perfect property for them may well be on the books of another agent. Feeling conflicted, Sharon had ‘a light bulb moment’ and decided to go it alone and set up Chiltern Relocation from her kitchen table.

At the party Sharon gave a short speech about setting up the business and how thrilled she was to be stood in a room full of clients that Chiltern Relocation has moved from all over the world to the UK.

Sharon shared a few special moments from the past 18 years during her speech. Her first relocation was for a British family from Dubai who were enjoying expat life but felt it would be prudent to buy a house in a grammar school catchment in the event that they wanted to move back in the future.

They tasked Sharon with searching for a home that would work as an excellent rental. Sharon found the ideal property and sent photos and a report to which they asked her to proceed with the purchase. Little did they know it was Sharon’s first search – so she insisted they visited the house before exchange – they loved it and were happy to proceed. Indeed, this method of purchase from a distance turned out to be valuable experience as Chiltern Relocation went on to secure many purchases without clients seeing the properties due to a variety of reasons and more recently due to Covid.

Sharon talked about some of the more memorable relocations which included moving a couple from Canada to Henley on Thames when their son was five and having stayed in touch with them since their move as their son is now embarking on his A Levels! At the time the couple were unable to travel to the UK so Chiltern Relocation were asked to secure a rental for the family with the added challenge of a property that would accept cats. The rental was better than they expected and Chiltern Relocation went on to help them purchase a beautiful cottage in a stunning village.

Another one of the more memorable relocations was also conducted from a distance for a couple relocating from South Africa. The couple went out on a Viewing Day with Sharon and after a number of viewings together she quickly understood what the couple wanted from their move. The couple needed to return to South Africa but Sharon continued the search. One of her excellent contacts, soon alerted her to a perfect new build that would be shortly coming to the market. Sharon was the first to view the house and she sent a video saying ‘this is the house for you!’

The couple trusted Sharon’s judgement and submitted an offer very quickly and the deal was done off market. The couple did not see the house in person until just before exchange due to travel restrictions. Sharon recalled how she vividly remembers walking up the drive with the couple hoping that it would be everything they wanted and more when they saw it in the flesh. Sharon was thrilled when they declared ‘it’s just perfect!’

The party was also a lovely opportunity to reflect on the awards Chiltern Relocation has won over the years in addition to being quoted in The Financial Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph. What a long way Chiltern Relocation has come from the early days at the kitchen table – Chiltern Relocation was thrilled to share this success with our clients and friends and raise a toast!
