Australia to Great Missenden for Six Months of the Year

The Initial Enquiry

We received a call from a couple with family split between Australia and Buckinghamshire. They were living in Australia but needed to establish a base in the UK for six months of the year. The property needed to be a ‘lock up and leave’ so fairly modern and in a neighbourhood where it would not look out of place when it was unoccupied. The couple were also keen to be close to a station with easy access to London as they had many social contacts in town.

How we helped

The couple were living in rented accommodation and before they headed back to Australia, we set up a Viewing Day which included the towns and villages of Jordans, Beaconsfield, Great Missenden, Seer Green and Gerrards Cross. We viewed properties in all the locations and the couple were particularly taken with Great Missenden. This town ticked the box for a variety of reasons, including the easy access into London at just 40 minutes to London Marylebone, the wide variety of shops, cafes and restaurants and the fact that it is nestled in the heart of the Chiltern valley. Properties in Great Missenden also offered great value with more house for their money compared to some of the towns that bit closer to London. The couple felt that the house and location would work very well for their needs and an offer was put in that day.

The problems we faced

The house was missing paperwork for the boiler and the couple needed clarity that the servicing was up to date as they couldn’t risk any boiler or pipes mishaps when they were the other side of the world. There were also a few legal hiccups that needed ironing out that required further negotiation from Chiltern Relocation.

Conclusion

Once the contractual loose ends had been tied up, the couple were able to proceed to completion and now look forward to getting to know Great Missenden and all that it has to offer.
