What Chiltern Relocation got up to 2021

What Chiltern Relocation got up to 2021

Having started the year in lockdown and with great uncertainty surrounding the housing market and when life would return to ‘normal’, 2021 has been a challenging year. However, despite the backdrop of the pandemic, it has also been a robust year of relocations – many of which have been genuinely life changing for the clients involved. We have moved a considerable number of clients into the area who have all wished for spacious living and working from home requirements, access to outside space in the form of gardens and the countryside on the doorstep, and also access to excellent schooling and commuting options.

Our most heartfelt relocations of 2021

Handing over the keys to our clients on move in day is always the favourite part of Chiltern Relocation’s job, but we have been particularly proud to have been part of these relocations.

A purchase in Beaconsfield: A couple moving from South Africa to the area needed access to London but wanted to find a town and property suitable for their retirement. Chiltern Relocation were first to view an off-market house and the couple put in an offer and got it accepted. However, it needed a lot of work which would take time to achieve with the building supply shortage but it ticked a lot of boxes and housing supply was thin on the ground. The couple then left for holiday and Chiltern Relocation became aware of another house that might be even better suited. We viewed and filmed the property and sent the clips to the couple. With interest building in this house a quick decision was needed.  Whilst still abroad and having not seen it in person, they decided to offer on this house and pull out of the other one. The couple trusted our judgment and now having moved in they could not be happier.

A family rental in Basingstoke: A Canadian family needed to move to the area for work and were unable to travel to view properties in person due to the pandemic. They needed a family home with 4 bedrooms and proximity to a professional sized ice rink for their ice hockey mad sons. A garage was also key to store all their ice hockey equipment. We set up a number of viewings but given the time difference the viewings had to be carefully coordinated. The family ‘viewed’ a particularly good option, live by Facetime, on a Saturday lunchtime when it was 8.30am in Canada. The family were at ice hockey practice at the time and were able to virtually view and speak to the landlord from the side of the ice rink. Happy that the family fitted the bill, the landlord agreed to rent the perfect property to the family.

Major Awards in 2021

Chiltern Relocation were thrilled to be awarded Relocation Company of the Year at the London and South East Prestige Awards. The Corporate Livewire Prestige Awards recognise businesses that have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months. We were delighted to be shortlisted whereby we were then asked to support our nomination with evidence of our work, positive feedback from our clients, information on previous accreditation and recognition as well as highlighting the most outstanding parts of the businesses.

In the Press in 2021

Sharon was featured in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire Living magazine. Living magazines are the second largest regional news publisher in the UK and Sharon was delighted to be featured in the My Buckinghamshire column – where her dog Milo might have got the odd mention too.

Sharon was interviewed for a book linking Dyslexia to Entrepreneurship. The book includes a chapter on Sharon’s experience in overcoming dyslexia and how dyslexia is often linked to entrepreneurial flair. The book was published at the start of the year.
